Hack Job

Hi all.. it is Alicia. While Sue was gone I decided to hack into her Blog and see what is going on. I had a wonderful Winter in Florida with my family. My son Terrence is now 2 1/2 and ready for High School. I guess we should get the Potty Training out of the way first.
I am so glad to be back at the Log Cabin. This Spring has been fantastic at the Inn. We have been so lucky with the economy that our family of guests have returned and we have made great new ones. Then again who wouldn't want to come to Bailey Island and watch the boats and the rebuilding of the Cribstone Bridge. Our occupancy is even up this May from last. There are not many jobs where you can work with great people, catch an awesome sunset and meet spectacular people that come back each year with gifts for us.
I am looking forward to creating my Friday Night Specials. Tonight we are having Grilled Mahi Mahi Fish with Ginger Tropical Salsa, Israli Couscous, Roasted Vegetables and a glass of Chardonay.
I will look forward to seeing all our return guests at the Log Cabin this Summer and eager to meet some new ones.

Safe and Healthy to All

This one is for you Curt!

From New York state come some mighty fine folks,

Their names are Kathleen and Curt.

They bring us smiles, they bring us jokes,

Now they are gone and my heart does hurt.

But in September , they will be back.

To see them again we will be ready.

With joy and cheers we will watch them unpack.

Our friendship with them is strong and steady!

Breakfasts and more

Today I made Mediterranean eggs, canadian bacon, orange cranberry muffins and fresh fruit cup! All of us cook breakfast (except Matt)....and we love to find new recipes. We alternate from eggs one day to french toast or pancakes....sometimes quiche, or frittata....and every once in a while we do lobster eggs benedict! Breakfast is a 3 course meal with pastry and fruit, juice and coffee as well. We do honor food allergies if people tell us ahead of time. Many guests skip lunch as they are full from breakfast!

Our night menu consists of 7 entrees and we serve from 6 - 6:30. We have Maine lobster (of course), a great filet mignon, crabmeat stuffed haddock, broiled scallops (caught right here in the bay), Maine shrimp and scallop pesto.....and boneless chicken for the non-seafood eaters. This spring Alicia has been making a Saturday night special which is super--last week it was filet with a crabmeat bearnaise sauce and her own chocolate cashew ice cream.

There are 2 other restaurants on Bailey Island also--Cooks and Giant Stairs. And, of course many more that you can drive to.

So, if you come stay with us at the Log Cabin Inn, come hungry!!

The colors of spring

After last nights rain, the colors are particularly vibrant today! The sun is out, as well as the bright yellow daffodils, forsythia, tulips, and of course the dandelions! The new leaves sprouting are various shades of green. The ocean is teal. And three white kayaks went down the bay this morning, with the white snow of Mt. Washingtons peak in the background.

Mt. Washington is in New Hampshire and is 90 miles from here as the crow flies. We see it on clear days, and frequently at sunset it is outlined. My son, Matt can be found staring longingly on many a day, as he loves hiking Tuckermans.

Yes, the view is always lovely here, but it is especially bright and cheery today. We hope you come visit us and enjoy is also.
